DeleteHi. The show is very popular here in Brazil. The actor who play Malthus (Rodrigo Santoro) is a Hollywood actor now. Ana Paula Arosio (Hilda) don't act anymore, but she is still famous. I don't know anything about the guy who play Roberto :(

DeleteThe guy who play Roberto is Danton Mello, he still acts but is not as famous as the other two, although i guess most people in Brazil would recognize him by looking at his face, maybe not by name. His brother tho, Selton Mello, is arguably one of the most famous actors in Brazil. He is in Auto da Compadecida, wich is a very important movie for us!

This series is really good and with your work has made this so so accessible... I feel like a lot of us started to see Hilda and Malthus content (and maybe that is still the case, that's fine!) only to find out about a series full of introspects on the socio-political state of Brazil at the time, which makes me curious to find out how all these things built the society of today!! DeleteKinda dumb for Gabriella because this story is set on a brink of coup/war in Brazil. The novel ends in that period of time anyway. The old guy may actually die later on if we look at where the plot is going so her plans to have child with a rich man is futile and useless in the long run. Her choice is realistic but that doesn’t make her any less horrible in her choices. Plus it rubs me off the wrong way that she did not care that Aramel isn’t really her announcer crush. That meant she mostly cared for superficial looks and her naive fantasy. She was always a red flag because of that.
Delete^ Exactly, regardless of the imminent coup we know about, the guy is old af and already has a bunch of children, he even laughs about the day he dies and how the whores and their bastards will fight over the inheritance 😂 her child would never see any benefit regardless of the coup and wether he dies in it or not.
