I love that Hilda doesn’t correct the rumors about her. She just laughs and lets people believe what they want to about her. She knows who she is, the things she has and hasn’t done and has nothing to prove to those that think so little of her. So much strength and boldness.

tbh he's not really supportive of her, he's only supportive of her persona. Maria is the one actually in tune with her feelings and the one to have her best interest in mind. Thin-waist keeps yelling go Hilda when she's doing things because she's in pain and stepping into her persona and he views it as entertainment, because he's blind to the despair behind her actions. He was completely tone deaf to her sadness over Malthus leaving, he even dragged the whole thing out, boasting over how she made him leave.
Even right off the bat, Thin-waist saw an 18 year old girl, upset and not in a stable state of mind, and all but urged her to try out prostitution because he felt like that would be interesting to see. Maria tried to make her rethink.
He admires her. He hasn't shown actual empathy so far, however. He'll mindlessly yell slay girlboss, but i don't think that's very healthy for her.

The way neither of them ever get truly mad at eachother, how Maria acts like a mother figure to Hilda, worries about and comforts her, offering her reassurance in her life, and how Hilda confides in Maria, tries to bring out her feminine side and doll her up when she's built up major insecurity over her femininity due to community around her mocking her, and how they overall banter is so beautiful, fiery yet gentle. I wish I could have someone like Maria as an aunt <3
